The Japanese magazine and book publisher Hobby Japan announced on Saturday that it will expand its business in the United States by publishing the Queen's Blade and Queen's Blade Rebellion fighting game books as well as the Hyakka Ryōran Samurai Girls light novel series. To begin, these volumes will be released digitally via Apple's iBook store, the Amazon Kindle store, and the company's own website (to be launched soon). At first, these digital releases will be free in order to promote the titles.
At an unspecified later date, the volumes will go into print and be bundled with figurines. These bundles will be available at specialty stores via Diamond Distributors, Amazon, bookstore chains, and the upcoming official website.
There is no schedule for any of the releases at this time.
Queen's Blade has been adapted into two television anime seasons, with an OVA series due to start in August 2010. Hyakka Ryōran is a multimedia franchise launched to celebrate Hobby Japan's 40th anniversary. An anime adaptation was announced for October 2010.
